Lash Regrowth: Signature Yuan Yang Facial

Last week was exhausting, I had less than 6 hours of sleep a day. So I was very sure I look ugly. And I had lots of break-out on my forehead. I was really happy when I got the opportunity to try the new Signature Yuan Yang Facial at Perkz Aesthetics.

Just so you know Perkz Aesthetics is the sister company of Lash Regrowth (who is known for their lashes programme). Together, they are now establishing themselves as a one-stop beauty place. I will be trying their other services too (not telling you which one for now) and this is very exciting for me, because their facial is good!

Similar to other facials, there is also extraction. The distinguishing factor of this facial was the aromatherapeutic scent of the coffee beans and tea. The cleansing water are replaced with tea water, the scrub included grind coffee beans and the face mask was infused with tea goodness as well.

There was also the Crystal Gua Sha that came with it. It was my first time doing Gua Sha and I really enjoyed it. I thought it would be painful but it was really soothing. I think I dozed off halfway...actually I wasn't too sure cos I was in Lalaland already. Oops.

Check out the effect of Gua Sha, it was so obvious that I don't even need to tell you which side has been worked on. My whole half face was lifted. Did someone botox me? Haha. And this effect can last for one week :D

If you notice closely, there are same specks of red on my neck. Yup, my lymphatic drainage system are being cleared and the the toxin are slowly removed. By the way, the massage are really good too.

Check out my radiant "after face-surgery" moment. The Yuan Yang Facial promises:-
  • Increase blood flow: Success. Look less like zombie after facial
  • Reduce wrinkles and fine lines: Maybe. I don't have wrinkles but it lifted my whole face. I even have a v-face HAHAHA.
  • Reduces Inflammation: Sucess. Pimples on forehead less visible
  • Increase antioxidants: Maybe?
  • Brighten dull skin: Totally, you won't know who shitty I look before.
  • Reduce puffiness and dark eye circle: Success. I think no one could even tell I had 3 hours sleep for the last 3 days!!!

And you know what, just between me and you, the usual price for this facial at Perkz Aesthetics is S$150. But it is now at a promotional price of S$68 if you want to try it out for yourself. Best for after an exhausting day, school camp or draining exams. Let me know if you have tried it too and how it worked for you!

Comfy Leather Shoes: Lucca Vudor

I bought a pair of leather flats lately and I didn't like it one bit. It was cheap but I absolutely hated it. The thing about me and my shoes are...much as I love them, I have ugly feet. (Sad but very true) So usually even at a sale, I walk out disappointed. Cos my feet look ugly. And in rare cases it look good, the shoes feel wrong.

So, I am very happy to share with you the leather shoe shop I found. There are some shoes you put your feet in, and you feel heaven. (For me, it is usually in the 300s range.) *Faints* But I found Lucca Vudor which is in the hundred range. You can even find some less than hundred!

Don't be fooled by their website, because they have a lot of designs at their store. I had a hard time picking that one shoe. P.S. I needed black footwear. And the number of black heels/ flats they have was mind-blowing. And, we always thought leather shoes were "classic" aka boring.

How wrong we were!!! They have a good collection of work appropriate shoes. And there was a discount on too. Part of me was like, let's just buy the whole shop down. But another part of me was like "let's out them to the test!" (I will be walking a lot next week, let's see if it hurts me!)

Just so you know, they have a sale going on. Mentally, I really wanted a walking leather flat and a floral print because they are so chic even if they are not work/corporate appropriate. I am in love I truly am. I even made put her foot into my shoe to gush about how comfy they were.

As you know, I was picking a pair of black. I know you are thinking it is boring now. LOL, but they are not. Because I have more LOTD next week, I will be updating the post on them. Hehe..suspense. Stay tune if you wanna find out :P

Tips on wedding bands

Since we have collected our wedding bands, I thought I should write on something more light-hearted after my last post. Wheee~!~ And if you are purchasing your wedding bands soon, here's some tips to help you with this special moment!
  1. There's no point flipping magazines. Seriously, you need to down to the shops and try them on. Designs that look good on paper may not look nice on your finger. I thought I didn't like tiny diamonds. But guess I apparently look good with bling :P

  2. Explore the different shops. Try Ion Jewellery Street, unless you are looking for the atas or unconventional brands, you can find Poh Heng, Soo Kee, Love & Co., Goldheart, Lee Hwa all in the same vicinity.

  3. You will know the right ring after a few tries. Initially, I was trying many designs. When it came to the end, I kept picking the same design over and over again. It just came to a point of comparing the minor details.

  4. You don't have to get matching rings. Cos what looks good on your partner may not look good on you. I think in the past everyone wanted matching rings. But it doesn't seem to be trendy anymore. In fact, ours isn't a couple ring. We matched them ourselves.

  5. Pick the ladies' ring first. Personally, I think that the ladies' ring have more designs. Most guys prefer simple cutting which is easier to match.

  6. You don't need to get them from the same shop. Surprise, surprise, mine is from Soo Kee and his Goldheart. We just like our respective rings too much so we took the risk. And good thing we did. Cos I love mine so much. *P.S. you may miss out on store discounts though.

  7. Don't make hasty purchases. We learnt this from a sales lady at Love & Co. She told us to think through it 24 hours before confirming on what decision. I was quite certain the next day, that this was the ring I wanted, even dreamt of it hahaha. (We did contemplate buying the rings from the same shop.)

  8. Season your ring before engraving. Don't rush to do it because you wanna save time. Make sure it fits you well. Cos after you engrave you won't be able to change the size!
To end off, if the wedding band is something you intend to wear for a long time, buy something you really love. Now, I can't wait to be married because I want to wear my ring. <3

I have Scoliosis

The title says it all. The doctors have confirmed I have Scoliosis. Well, luckily I am a mild case so I don't have to go for an operation or need to wear a back brace. As my doctor puts it, "just continue living your happy life!"

It is a permanent issues, but at least it is not life threatening in anyway. I just have to live with bad posture and not be able to be a model (not that I was in the first place) for the rest of my life.

  1. Medically, the causes of Scoliosis are unknown. I may or may not have an offspring with the same issue as me. But one thing for sure, if you are born with it, you live with it.

  2. In Singapore, during our growth spurts, most of us will be tested for it. So, if you are a severe case, you would definitely go through remedial surgery or back braces. Mild cases like me, you may or may not be informed of your condition. (It does make you sad to know you are sick.)

  3. Just in case you are wondering, I have very bad posture. And I have backaches easily too. I always thought the aches was due to my bad posture. And the bad posture was due to the laziness of my spine - never knew it was an inherent problem of my spine. My parents/ relative would always scold me and ask me to sit straight. But honestly, I always feel better slouched and now we all know why. HAHAHA.

  4. And truly, this is by no way end of the world. I can do sports (I can't touch my toes not sure is it because of my back.) and I excel in some sports too. I have poor balance though haha. The saddest thing is I probably shouldn't take epidural when I am pregnant. But I have high pain tolerance :P

  5. I also asked my doctor about Chiropractic Treatment. Just to share, this is not regulated in Singapore, so best to avoid it.

  6. By the way, I am already past my growth spurt, so as my Doctor says, my condition will not deteriorate. The only reason why my back grows weaker will be due to natural old age.

Just so you know, all of us have own set of health issues. Even me. But what is important is to continue on living, making the best of life. After all you even live once. By the way, even Martha Hunt, Victoria Secret's angel has Scoliosis too.

Guess my doctor put it best, at least it is Scoliosis. There are other worse illnesses out there. You didn't get the best lot. But this lot still allows you to live a normal life and chase your dreams. #Feelingpumped I really don't live forever, so shall make my every breathe a cheerful one.

Food Tour Part 9: Comfort food for stress days

Alright, to be honest, school has been a little stressful with so many submissions! Omg, I think I am losing my sanity. I seriously shouldn't be writing but sometimes this place give me a little bit of breather as I rattle on about stuff unrelated to my packed life.

You are not expecting this, but here's a post. Hehe! I guess I will do a quick one about food. Because that's what I have been doing a lot - binging to de-stress. Oops!

This chain has been around for a long time. Honestly, I have no love for it initially. I tried it and I was like meh...why are people even buying this expensive shit. Then one day, my BF's bro bought it home and I gave it a second try (Yellow Ribbon project) and I was hooked ever since.

Seriously, is there even drugs in it? I am so obsessed, I even took a photo of its menu so that I can get anyone to tabao next time. Actually,BlackBall is not that pricey if you share it with your family. Whoever who brought this chain into Singapore is my hero man! With that said, do you think you can let me be your ambassador? LOL!

Another chain that has some longevity and sprouting around lately. And I love it. I am just obsessed with hot pots. They just seem so healthy (not really) and warm about them. Ever since, Shi Li Fang popped up, I have always been a fan.

There is some cheap thrill about them that excites me. (Ok, they ain't that cheap and the food variety aint fantastic) It is just some comfort food and is a lot cheaper than other steamboats out there. Highly recommend if you are not looking for an atas meal!

3. Real Chinese Food
Wherever you are staying at, I am sure you notice there are these ridiculous number of Chinese shops (manned by Chinese) popping up. Mala, Chong Qing Fish etc. you name it, they probably have it. Greasy, oily, spicy, definitely not healthy, but hey I like it. Ooops haha. So I gave them a chance, and yum.

The price differs greatly. Some are awesome and cheap. Some are yucky and overpriced (NUS Law School one definitely falls into the latter.) My tip is to observe the PRC, if they are buying from that shop, it is probably legit. Just some stress food you may consider.

And sigh, I am back to endless readings. But thanks for entertaining my sanity break!

Man Talk: Bundies of Joy

To be a little more fair, I decided to work on some posts for male readers as well (cos I am sure there are male readers right?!?) So today is quite an intimate topic for you guys...caring about your bum hahaha.

Personally, I was always felt that in terms of fashion/ apparels especially, the market for the males seem to be a bit smaller and doesn't really break much of the mould. It is boring and over-priced. (This is told to me by a male and I agree!)

When I came across Bundies, I thought that I really had to share this! Because they have a subscription box for male undies. I have came across many subscription for the women - period boxes, apparels rental boxes, accessories boxes etc. But male undies, wow, this is novel stuff.

So, Bundies have trunks and boxers available for the men. Most the guys I am closer to wear briefs. So I was a bit clueless about these 2...and I did some research on my own. For women who are buying the men their inner beauty, listen up! To put it simply, trunks provide more support and is sleeker (good for the day) while boxers are airy and less restricted (better for the night!)

Aesthetically, I found these undies attractive. I mean there are so much details to it (prints, and coloured linings for the block-coloured trunks). But my bro told me, men don't go totally for design. It is more important to be comfortable. So the men I know put these underwear to the test.

As there is a bit more fabric than what they are normally used to, they initially thought that it might be a little warm. But because the material was thin and soft, Bundies was surprisingly comfy. My Dad prefer the plainer designs but my Bro (I guess with youth comes more openness), he said some prints and designs was good variation. And both of them were happy to try out boxers and trunks in future instead of briefs given similar comfort level!

But, the both of them weren't too keen on subscriptions because they don't change undies every 2 months (LOL!) and would buy as and when required. And fortunately, Bundies sell single pieces as well. This is good for gifting too given that they come in nice zip-locked bags. The bag can be recycled to put your manly cosmetics when traveling!

For Ladies only: Just a secret between me and you, I have actually tried boxers before. And they actually make very good shorts. But you probably need to get it 1-2 sizes bigger. (I like them loose and comfy!) You can get your very own from Bundies too. The designs are a lot better than those available out there!

And with that, this is the end of our first man-targeted review. Please do let us know if you would like style (with the men's perspective)! I know the women are always very interested in the men's gifting post (You know, it is not that easy to shop for a man ok, women don't have it easy!)

Out in Cinemas: Peter Rabbit

It has been a long while since I have done a movie shout-out. So last weekend, I caught an awesome premiere - Peter Rabbit with my family. The tickets came at a really good time because it has been a long, long while since everyone caught a movie together. (My Mum always find movie ticket to be too expensive.)

The best thing is everyone enjoyed themselves and we even went for dinner after. Mum even went "This movie is so awesome. The rabbits look so realistic. We should have done this as a family more often. Let's go to the movies more." Guess, this is even more of a family movie than we expected.

Peter Rabbit is not an uncommon tale. Most of us have heard us this cheeky little one and his family. The soundtracks in this movie was amazing. I love how they changed the lyrics of our familiar tune. And I really like how it was entertaining for the young and the old. The jokes weren't too cheesy and there was still something nostalgic about it.

My Dad initially didn't wanted to watch it cos he "doesn't watch cartoons" which are for kids. But he gave the movie a chance after checking its trailer and is a full fan after the movie. I guess the charms of rabbits are just irresistible. Check out the trailer!

On a sidenote, I didn't expect the premiere to be so much fanfare. There were some snacks and fringe activities for the young and old. There was face painting for you to transform to be part of the rabbit family and a modified carrot ring-tossing game for you snag a rabbit headband.

Yup, yours truly grew athletic overnight. Never knew I was that great a tosser. I also didn't expect the hospitality to extend to good eats and free popcorns! It really made the whole movie experience so wonderful. So, thank you Sony Pictures and Narratrs for the invitation.

P.S. My Dad asked if there is going to be a sequel. :)
